The "Flash
Linker Combo" consists of:
| Flash
Linker
(which connects via cable to your PC and to transfers
games/programs onto the 128meg Cart) |
|
| 128meg
Cart
(plugged into Flash Linker to transfer roms and then
to use on Gameboy Advance) |
|
Also included:
- Cables
(to plug your Flash Linker to your PC via. parallel port)
- Power
supply (note: batteries only last for
a few hours so this is an essential)
- CD
(Contains utils, emulators and PD roms
that can be used on your Flash Linker)
All you need
other than the above is a standard Gameboy Advance and your
PC and your ready to hookup the "Flash Linker Combo"
setup..
Once you've
connected the Flash Linker to one end of the Cable
(standard male to male cable) and the other into the back of your
pc parallel port, next step is to plug in the Power Supply
(batteries drain in less than an hour so that would be a waste of
money) and finally insert the 128mb Cart into the Flash
Linker (this is the cart you will be using on your Gameboy
Advance once done). Once your all set, turn on the switch on
the side of the Flash Linker, the red light should come on.
Now your ready to put some stuff onto your 128meg Cart.
On the CD
that is included there are transfer programs, I have chosen Flash
Advance Writer (Win9x, XP versions etc are all included on the
CD) which allows you to upload .gba roms from your PC to
the 128meg cart via the Flash Linker. The 128meg
Cart is a good size for contents (the 128meg Cart normally
fits about 4/6 decent sized games <2-3mb> or 2/3 huge
games <4-6mb> and gamesaves too!) although there
is a 256meg Cart (available also at CDWORLD)
out which will double the capacity. Once you've chosen, say 4 games,
Flash Advance Writer will upload them to the 128meg cart
and even sets up a menu (for multi-games) to choose once its ready
to play on the Gameboy Advance.

(image to
show the Flash Advance Writer's setup - This is included on the
CD) *Note: The above is an example to show the potential size of
the cart *
Once the games
have been uploaded (you can alter the speed depending what PC spec.
you have), you simply turn off the Flash Linker, remove the
128meg Cart and insert it into your Gameboy Advance.
Where upon switching it on, the following menu will show:

the Flash Writer OS menu)
All that is
left to do now is to select the game that you wish to play and within
seconds it loads up. Simple as that. Emulators for the GBA
such as Spectrum, Master System and many others also work on this
flawlessly :)
The Flash
Linker also allows you to back up your original Gameboy
Advance titles to your pc, which will allow you to play your games
on any of the popular Gameboy Advance emulators available
OR you could upload two/four original games that you own to the
128meg cart, saving you carrying all the games about :)
Oh and btw the
Flash Writer Advance program has the option to format the
cart too, so the options are limitless.
It really is
as simple as it sounds. I recieved mine from CDWORLD
who as always offer such an excellent service and at a good price.
Highly Recommended.
In closing if
you own a Gameboy Advance and want to expand your options,
then this is the product for you.
