New MAMED Release!
MAMED is a build of the arcade emulator MAME for Dreamcast.

MAMED changes:
Fixed floating point calculations, fixes some sound emulation and vector games and background png image loading. Games which use the 68K are marked with all CAPS, cause the 68K cpu isn't in this release (saves about 1MB or RAM). If you select a game and it doesn't run you selected a game that uses 68K, you ran out of RAM, you don't have the correct rom set for MAME core 37b6, you selected a clone rom set and you don't have the parent set on the same CD. If a game doesn't have correct sound you might need samples, some games that don't require samples now did require them for this older version of the MAME core. I now support both 8 & 16 bit graphics modes. In 16 bit, if possible I avoid using lookup tables and use direct copy which is much faster (BTW the compiler lib built-in memcpy() is way slow, avoid in your own stuff if possible). Use 8-bit for larger games that require more memory. I also added an new graphics mode that tries to scale a little better. You can run MAMED from the command line with a rom name argument to create a self boot single game CD if you wish. Rescanning of the CD is only done when you select "RESCAN". You can put a snap directory on the CD and the png file corresponding to the rom name is displayed in the background in the game list menu (looks really nice BTW). There is preliminary support for a config file on the CD called MAME.CFG you can use it if you like. Overall stability should be improved and many more games that didn't run before should run now. If you screw up your boot disk but do manage to get KOS on there I will run KOSH which is built into the KOS image in /rd. And finally the X & B buttons are swapped from the last release.

Know MAMED problems:
68K emulation doesn't work, duh? Sometimes sound startup and shutdown is not in sync with the HW and can cause the Dreamcast to reset, I'm looking into it, can cause some games to fail at startup or shutdown at random. There are a few games that should work that don't, playchoice10 comes to mind, I'm working on it. Cheat, History, Hiscore, Mameinfo are not working, don't even try and put the file on the CD. Memory fragmentation needs to be improved to avoid crashes and allow switching to other packs.

KOS changes:
Increased the iso9660 disk cache from 32K to 128K (should hold any size rom disk you stick in, I might reduce it a bit in the future but I have room for the moment). Memory allocation that fails no longer reset the dreamcast (the MAME source code is pretty good and can recover correctly from out of memory conditions). Memory can still get fragmented after using MAMED for a while and cause out of memory conditions and even crashes. I also adjusted the stack ceiling from 64K to 128K to avoid stack overflow problems.

MEKA 0.58 Released!
MEKA is a SG-1000, SC-3000, Sega Mark III, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Colecovision & Othello Multivision emulator for DOS.

News:
- Added PSG sound logging to WAV files, accessible from the Sound menu.
- Rewrote messaging system, added localization support. Moved all messages to an external file, MEKA.MSG. You can now change 95% of the texts used in Meka, and translate it to the language of your choice. I am however NOT YET sure about how accents will work, since it depends on the font used. This feature required a pass on all existing code and so took plenty of time to do (10+ hours), I might have screwed a few messages during the change, so be sure to send me an e-mail if you notice anything unusual.
- Implemented a VDP quirk found in Master System 2 but not Master System 1 or Game Gear, discovered by Charles Mac Donald (thanks Charles!). This one fixes Cosmic Spacehead *BUT* might screws up few other games. I did a bit of testing but couldn't do them all again, so please report if you notice anything unusual with another game.
- Improved hardware sprite collision accuracy, fixed a bug in some cases where it was previously framerate dependant, and rewrote the whole code in assembly.
- Changed initializations messages and some other messages.
- Fixed an incorrect numbers of TV lines in PAL/SECAM TV emulation (due to a typo - thanks goes to cgfm2 for pointing me this stupid error!), allowing removal of a few custom MEKA.NAM parameters (Daffy Duck in Hollywood..).
- Fixed the annoying bug that caused crashes on startup under DOS when sound was enabled.
- Fixed a minor bug in Codemaster mapper emulation, that affected the checksum check of 'Drop Zone' (although the game worked).
- Fixed crash when using a patch defined in MEKA.PAT that write outside of any existing data.
- Added (very) quick and (very) dirty frame-per-frame advance by pressing ALT-F12. In fact, it will unpause the game then pause it back next frame.
- Updated Colecovision compatibility list and added some product IDs, thanks to Tincho DJ. The current state with Colecovision games is: a mess :( Someone will lots of Colecovision knowledge would be very helpful to help sorting out all bad dumps, testing games and redumping others.

ZsKnight leaves the emulation scene!
The ZSNES homepage has updated with shocking news. ZsKnights dad has passed away, whom has been supporting the family, and he still has 2 more years left in college before graduation, so he's in a predicament. He has announced that he is leaving the emulation scene. He will make a formal goodbye once he is out of shock. Here is the message from the homepage:

"I'm sorry to say this, but this marks my permanent leave from the ZSNES project, anything related to this, and emulation overall. The reason why is that my dad just passed away today, so I'm going to have to spend more of my energy devoted to helping my family. My dad is also the main person who provides the finances to the family (since my mom doesn't work), plus I still have about 2 more years to go before I graduate from university, so my immediate future doesn't look that great. But I just hope that everything will go well. Thanks to all you supporters for everything. Sorry for the lack of a proper goodbye though, so I'll probably update once more after I get out of this shock in another day.

- zsKnight"

Lets wish zsKnight alot of luck and hope for his future.
Also lets hope that zsnes doesn't die as a result of this either.

Thanks to [stig] on irc for the news.

    Snes9xWin 1.38 Released!
    Snes9x is a Super Nintendo emulator for a lot of different systems. This time the Windows port was updated.

    News:
    * Added support for Star Ocean and Street Fighter 2 Alpha decompressed graphics packs from dejap. Used a binary chop search rather than a linear search to locate correct decompressed graphics more quickly - should help emulation speed during later stages of the game.
    * Included OpenGL support into the Linux port and speeded up the Windows OpenGL implementation slightly. The real speed up would occur if I could figure out how/if 16-bit textures are supported in OpenGL because at the moment the 16-bit software rendered SNES image must be converted to 24-bit before being uploaded as a texture...
    * Included the latest ZSNES DSP-1 code. Now Pilotwings, SD Racer and Suzuka 8 Hours are playable. Aim For The Ace, Super Air Diver 1 & 2 and Syutoko Battle 94 are also playable, but with bugs. Thanks to zsKnight, _demo_, et al for all their hard work.
    * Another Daffy Duck: Marvin Missions screen flicker problem worked around - writing to the IRQ enable register shouldn't clear any pending IRQs, but Sieken 3 seems to require this or else the game hangs. Special-cased Daffy Duck for now.
    * An NMI emulation bug was triggering a Panic Bomberman World game bug, crashing it. Basically, if a game enables NMIs after the normal trigger point, the NMI should not trigger if the game has already read the NMI clear register.
    * Panic Bomberman World requires SPC700 memory to be initialised to zero on reset otherwise the game hangs when a tune finishes and another one should start.
    * Added mouse pointer auto-hide to the Windows port. Much better than the turn the mouse pointer into a black dot method I was using before. - Included the latest ZSNES Super FX code. Not sure if it fixes actually fixes any games.
    * Added an offset hack for Strike Gunner to get the scrolling ground layer to line up correctly - another offset-per-tile bug hacked around for now.
    * Arrr! Left in some debugging code in the last release that prevented all games that need the slower SPC700 timing from working. Removed it.
    * Hmm. The broken cut-scenes in Deep Space 9 seem to indicate that I haven't got the emulated clock speed of the 65c816 CPU correct yet. And not by a little bit - a 9% too slow error. Hacked special timing for the game for now.
    * Added triple-buffering to Windows port - enabling double-buffering actually enables triple-buffering if you have enough free video RAM, defaulting to double-buffering if you don't.
    * Fixed another crash bug in the interpolated mode 7 code - if no scaling was being used (either up or down) and screen repeat was enabled and the screen was flipped horizontally, the routine would crash Snes9x. Was causing Snes9x to crash during rock monster boss stage of Castlevania 4.
    * Oops. Got the initialisation of the default SNES screen width and height round the wrong way - could cause a X Windows System error message on the UNIX port after loading a ZSNES freeze file.
    * Included the unofficial Windows port emulation fixes for several games including Kentouou World championship and TKO Super Championship.
    * Included ??? improved Anti Res. sound sample decoding routine and updated the C version to match.
    * Included Anti Res. improved sample decompression code he sent me ages ago, but for some reason I didn't include. Sorry. This version seems good enough to leave enabled all the time.

    New MAMED Release!
    MAMED for DC is another port of the arcade emulator MAME to Dreamcast.

    Notes from author:
    "The CD swap bug has been fixed. Turned out to be a single character in the KOS iso9660 driver (uint32 changed to int32) for those that want to know. So now you need my special version of KOS to run MAMED on your dreamcast, although this version should run any standard KOS application without problems. I've included the standard KOS boot script support in this special version so you can change which mamed.klf gets run of a CD or so you can run some kind of KOS menu application to select one. Disk swapping should not cause any problems, to refresh the screen just try and load something that's not on the disk by pressing start from the game list and it will rescan the CD correctly. Just be sure to edit the boot.rc file to run the version of mamed.klf you want. I've also imbedded the stream.drv in the /rd inside KOS so you don't need it on the CD anymore.

    OK now on to the MAMED packs. All cpu and sound drivers are inside in each pack so they will be too big to load onto /rd and run it from there so they must be on a CD to run preferably the CD with KOS above. All MAME drivers are included and separated by manufacture groups but not all will run because of memory constraints. I tried to make all the packs about the same size (~5MB). I can fairly easily make special builds to run a particular game with only the bare minimum of code but I will work on that later. Remember the uncompressed rom size is important but also each driver has to emulate ram chips inside the machine too so don't expect a rom that uncompresses to 14.6MB to run on the dreamcast you need space for ram chips and the emulator code and even then it might be just too slow. Also remember this is based on MAME v37b6 not the latest and some rom have changed."

    There are 15 different packs on the homepage and a DiscJuggler image of the first pack.

    Joey's Phoenix Emulator 0.3 Released!
    Joey's Phoenix Emulator is a Phoenix emulator for Dreamcast.

    The author says:
    "Hello again everyone, there is good news today, i have fixed the graphics bugs in my phoenix emu. Everything is working really well now and it is either running at the full 60fps or very close to it. To fix it i just needed to change the size of my bitmap to 256x256 so each store queue transfer was 256byte aligned, i was just aligning the first one (thanks to Regex for the info). So now that that is sorted out i can work on adding support for pulling the palette from the roms instead of using the premade one because the colors arent right. Also i will probably be starting to use the TA soon so i can move the game to the center of the screen. Well, have fun with this new release!"

    Lewpy's 3Dfx/Glide GPU Plugin 1.34 Released!
    Lewpy's 3Dfx/Glide GPU Plugin is a Glide plugin for Playstation emulators that uses the PSEmu Pro plugin system.

    News:
    - Save State Picture Support I've added full support for Save State pictures. You can see them, and it saves them too :)
    - Tweaked Off-Screen Drawing Settings I've tweaked the detection of recursive texturing when OSD is set to EXTRA. It should have less false detections (slowdowns if set to EXTRA, massive pauses if set to EXTRA+FBR), and hopefully it doesn't miss what is trying to detect!
    - OnScreen Display Enhancement If the OnScreen display is set to OFF, you get a 2 second message appear on-screen whenever you change the Save State slot or change the controller type. Unfortunately, there was a yet another bug in the last release, which meant after a while these messages would appear and then stay on screen. Whoops. REALLY fixed now :) .... I hope :)
    - Improved Copy Info Output Includes detection of Windows XP, and DirectX 8.1. Also fixed the bug that meant the output was cropped if ePSXe CDRom was set to "First Cdrom".
    - Tidier Glide shutdown I now clear both the front and rear Glide display buffers before I close down the Glide window, which helps keep the screen tidy if you are running dual monitors, like I do :) The 3dfx drivers are very poor at being used as a secondary display, and don't re-initialise the desktop after a Glide session :(
    - Miscellaneous Fixes Not too many this release. Don't expect any compatibility improvements with games that were having trouble with the last release (i.e. Xenogears, etc.) :(

    Kawaks 1.12 Released!
    Kawaks is a CPS-1 & CPS-2 emulator for Windows.

    News:
    1.12:
    * Sound REALLY fixed. I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by 1.11

    1.11
    * That bad, naughty, evil, and overall not very nice sound issue should be fixed now :)) (Jesus, why did GetCurrentPosition have to report bytes instead of samples ?)
    * Modified autoframeskip code to adapt to new timing system. Should be better too, now.
    * Added a system to autodetect for each frame wether sprite masking is needed or not. Since it is not, most of the time, this speeds up things nicely in many games :)
    * Fixed Street Fighter Zero - CPS Changer (Japan 951020) backgrounds (broken in 1.10)
    * Macros for Player 2, Player 3 and Player 4. Have a look at updated Defaultkeys.ini
    * New blitter: Zoom 2x software. In other words, 200% without blur effect. If you like "correct ratio" and not blur, I'd suggest you give a try to this blitter + stretch + eventually fullscreen. Keep in mind that this blitter is however significantly slower than Normal, Alternate scanlines or even regular scanlines.
    * Fixed XMen Versus Street Fighters hanging when beginning fight against Apocalypse
    * Faster loading for Capcom Sports Club
    * Correct the CRCs for Capcom Sports Club XORs (didn't cause bugs, just reported XORs to be bad in audit)
    * New function to redraw the current frame without the on screen messages. Handy if you want to make a screenshot.
    * Added a few background colors in the menu
    * Added Zoom window 100%/200%/300% in the menu
    * Made the Reset key redefinable, since everyone seems to hate F10 :)
    * The usual batch of comestic changes :)

    Pete's Windows PSX ASPI CDR 1.6 Released!
    Pete's Windows PSX ASPI CDR is a CD-Rom plugin for Playstation emulators who follow the PSEmu Pro plugin standard.

    News:
    - "Try again on reading error" option. Now you can tell the cdr plugin to try the sector reading up to 10 times again. Very helpfull with scratched CDs (like my Tomb Raider 2 one ;)
    - "Use PPF file" option. Some psx games need special patches to work right. Or you want to use special trainers/cheats for your game. In the past you had to create an ISO of that game, apply the patch, and burn the game again. Now you can simply select a PPF file in the plugin config, and the patch will be done automatically within the cdr plugin while playing the game... no need to make patched copies anymore :) I've made the patching engine very fast, I think, so you shouldn't see any performance hits (of course it will not _improve_ the performance as well ;) Btw, every request for PPF files will be ignored... The plugin supports PPF1 and PPF2 files, but it will not check if the PPF file is 'right' for the game you are playing. So take care (or better: take ePSXeCutor/PSSwitch/new AdriGUI to create different game configs). Big thanx for that idea to JNS... you were right... it is possible :)

    * DOS users can now (in the configuration file) specifically state a preference for a more orthodox (but less convenient for the emulator) set of graphics resolutions - {800x600, 640x480, 320x400} rather than {800x600, 640x400, 400x300}

    1964 0.6.2 Released!
    1964 is a Nintendo 64 emulator for Windows.

    News:
    - Support for game shark codes. Have not seriously tested. I tried some codes of Super Mario 64. Some codes work, some have no effect. [F9] key is assigned as game shark button. Major changes are in the cheatcode.c and cheatcode.h files.
    - Detecting code change before executing an already compiled block in Dynareg main loop. This helps to raise the compatibility of DyanCompiler. Dynareg now has similar compatibility as interpreter.
    - Some minor fixes in r4300i.c and r4300i.h
    - Minor fixes in dma.c
    - Fixes of game pause/resume logic. Game state save/load are working in both release/debug setting
    - In this new version, state load/save works fairly well. Game shark code supporting works basically, but need to debug and test. Compatibility is not improved much.
    - Many other minor things.
    - New 1964.ini file with pj64 style and 1964cheatcode.dat file.

    ElectrEm Beta 9 Released!
    ElectrEm is a Acorn Electron emulator for DOS, Windows & Linux.

    News:
    * fixed a bug affecting all versions except DOS that caused the volume selector to have a reversed meaning with high fidelity sound emulation
    * I have cleared some issues regarding distribution of the Acorn ROMs with the emulator, and as such have now included them. However, I'm not really sure what to do about the Pres E00-ADFS ones, which would be really useful also.
    a rewrite of the sound and tape i/o code brings some changes and new features. Namely :
    - tape loading using genuine tapes from the soundcard or a sound file (Microsoft wave [.wav], Apple AIFF [.aif or .aiff], SUN AU [.au] & raw sound formats supported). But be warned : at this time, the soundcard option is near untested and highly experimental. And the same goes for soundcard tape output, which has suffered something of a rewrite.
    - saving to tape UEF files and the piping of input to output is now possible, so ElectrEm can be used to generate UEF files from Electron tapes with none of the over-zealous validation checks of MakeUEF. A seperate utility, CleanUEF is now available to reduce approximately ROM format tapes to a canonical form.
    - the previous 'real time' sound capability is dead, replaced by 'low fidelity sound emulation' which produces about the same quality of sound (actually a little better in Windows), but is fully target portable
    - byte by byte sequential file access is now accelerated by the fast tape mechanism, speeding up the loading of games such as Zalaga (full price release) & Ian Botham's Cricket
    * Native support is now implemented for files created by one of the Slogger T2P3 or T2Peg ROMs. They are, and will remain for the forseeable future, read only. Support will come for WH Scholten's .tape format, and possibly the !6502Em tape format in the future.
    * fixes/changes to autload capabilities :
    - fixed state snapshot loading when 'collude with AutoLoad ROM' is enabled
    - fix to preload ("load =" config file option) handling such that it now co-operates with autoload and is more path tolerant
    - the autoload facility will now jiggle all ROMs except the Plus 1 as it sees appropriate, allowing for media type and so on
    - it is now possible in all operating systems to pass a file as a program argument and have it loaded along with any preload files, meaning that (OS or Window Manager allowing - works a treat in MS-Windows) you can associate ElectrEm with the relevant file extensions, find some game and just double click to play
    it is worth noting that it is also now possible to add ROM inclusion/exclusion hints to UEF files, in order to help emulators out e.g. with whether to enable the Plus 1 ROM which some games require for joystick support but others don't function with at all
    * as a quick fix for Karate Combat and others, the emulator will now (fast) LOAD"" locked files (both of those programs mess with the temporary memory store of the locked flag before the OS looks at it properly), but if possible I don't intend to make that a permanent feature
    * started an SDL target, intended initially only as a potential replacement for GGI if that project really is dead forever. SDL does not offer sound input though, and has some odd keyboard behaviour (particularly on the caps and num lock keys). A compiled version will be available once the latter issue has been resolved.
    * optimised the CPU cores a little (specifically I optimised accessing of the P register, avoiding a few conditional statements and cut some tables for cache reasons), and fixed the timing of some operations on the multiplexing core. Also a big source cleanup makes it much easier to maintain the two in parallel.
    * made an attempt at optimising the video circuit emulation, which may or may not have helped
    * a rethink of the frame skip mechanism results in improvements in that area
    * added the facility to generate entirely empty and new (pre-formatted since the disc controller chip isn't emulated well enough to handle any other way!) DFS or ADFS diskettes, in any of the supported file types, and UEF tape files
    * bug fix means that you no longer lose data when writing to UEF files on different filing systems than the executable/binary
    * fixed a palette related issue which was causing some programs (such as certain calls to the OS ROM) to erroneously generate the free palette changes of Joe Blade et al
    * fixed a potential crash bug for people without a joystick configured as the 'First Byte' joystick, and another when accessing UEF-Tape's from read only media
    * upgraded the emulated Electron to a two disc drive machine
    * made simple optimisation targetting the vast majority of titles which use only a section of the display area
    * bug fixes to the GUI means it is no longer possible to 'jam' a file in the load menu (when every time you re-enter the menu system that file instantly selects itself and the menu system exits)

    FCE Ultra 0.61 Released!
    FCE Ultra is a NES emulator with binaries for DOS, Windows & Linux. This time the Windows & Linux version got updated.

    New for the Windows port:
    * Speed optimizations in sprite rendering code.
    * Screen snapshots are now saved in the PNG format instead of the PCX format.
    * Fixed Game Genie emulation(it wasn't working in the last release). Also added support for Game Genie emulation to the UNIF code.
    * Fixed a problem(if FCE Ultra was configured to connect to a remote host and the remote host was given as an IP address, and the IP address couldn't be reverse resolved, which is commonly the case on home LANs, the connection attempt would fail) in the network play code. I had misinterpreted the Winsock API documentation when I wrote the code.

    New for the Linux port:
    * Speed optimizations in sprite rendering code.
    * Screen snapshots are now saved in the PNG format instead of the PCX format.
    * Fixed Game Genie emulation(it wasn't working in the last release). Also added support for Game Genie emulation to the UNIF code.

    Kawaks 1.09 Released!
    Kawaks is a CPS-1 & CPS-2 emulator for Windows.

    News:
    * 1.08 was a lot slower than previous releases due to the new VRAM lag code. I have now optimised that code, and also optimised various other things, so hopefully, 1.09 should be as fast as older Kawaks. Still, since VRAM can still be a slowdown factor, I have included an option to disable it. (enabling VRAM lag only fixes a few minor gfx glitches, so you slower PC uses may want to let it disabled. Try and see for yourself)
    * Optimised 2xSai, Super2xSai, SuperEagle blitters.
    * Added a scanlined 2xSai blitter (much faster than 2xSai, slower than scanlines)
    * 2xSai, SuperEable and Super2xSai should work on S3/S4 cards, and some other exotic ones, now (I'd like feedback on that...)
    * Added a DisableJoystick option, since joystick management is a performance hit.
    * Fixed "Show if available" crash
    * Fixes in the menu code (better "ticks" management)
    * Support for a default generic key setting :
    Put your usual key definitions in a file named defaultkeys.ini, which should be located in the same directory as WinKawaks.exe (not the INI directory) A defaultkeys.ini is included in this zip, just modify it to suit your needs. (You can use the INI of one of your configured games to help you.) Note that a game's ini has the priority to defaultkeys.ini. You may want to edit your defaultkeys.ini and delete all of your game's inis to make sure they all use the new settings on they next launch.
    * Alt+A toggles Autoframeskip. Also shows a message on screen, now.

    Pete's Windows PSX GPUs 1.51 Released!
    Pete's Windows PSX GPUs are GPU plugins for Playstation emulators that uses the PSEmu Pro specs. Pete has made GPU plugins for Sofware, OpenGL, & Direct3D.

    News:
    - All plugins: _Demo_ suggested to use a 59.94 fps NTSC timing (instead of the old 60 fps one), if autodetected fps limitation is enabled. Well, done... (don't ask me if that will improve anything... most of my games are PAL ones anyway :)
    - D3D plugins: I wanted to add a few more fullscreen modes to the D3D plugins in version 1.50, but somehow I've forgotten to add the 320x240 and 320x200 D3D modes, tsts. Oki, fixed.
    - All plugins: it is now possible to redefine the gpu hotkeys in the gpu config windows (look for a small "..." button).
    - OGL/D3D: added some mmx asm to squeeze out a few more frames per second. The optimizations were done in my texture caching funcs, the speed increase will be in the range of 0 - 10 more fps (depends, as always, on the game and your pc specs). No mmx was added to the soft gpu (main reason: most time in the soft gpu is used up in the per-pixel blending funcs, and that ones are very mmx-unfriendly right now... well, I've checked out some other optimizations in the soft gpu, giving me around 2 additional fps, but the gpu dll size was doubled and the code was a really big mess, so I've dropped that again).
    - OGL plugin: the best is yet to come: 100% perfect subtract blending! Well, one of the psx blending modes is hard to emulate in hw/accel. gpus, because that kind of blending was not supported on older pc gfx hardware. But lately I've found an OGL extension to get that mode right, and luckily my GeForce1 DDR card can do it without problems. Version 1.51 of the OGL plugin will check your card's opengl capabilities, and enable that special blending mode, if it is available. Prolly all GeForce cards can do it, I don't know if it is supported on other cards as well, though. The gpu ingame-menu will show a little 'moon' symbol, if the extension can be used. Of course the gpu plugin will fall back to the old blending func, if it's not possible to use it. Quite easy, no special option needed :) You will notice the new blending mostly with correctly faded menu backgrounds in FF9, or with darker shadows and lighting in CC. Oki, and now let me answer some new FAQs _before_ they have a chance to get FAQs ;)
    1. Q: Is it possible to do the new mode in the DX6/DX7 D3D plugins?
    A: No
    2. Q: Would it be possible in a DX8 D3D plugin?
    A: Yes
    3. Q: Will you code a DX8 D3D plugin?
    A: No... at least not in the near future :) Ask Lewpy to do one... :):):)
    - All plugins: there is _no_ new option for the wrong mdec colors with fpse 0.9! I did think alot about it, if I should do a 'special fpse game fix' or something like that, but in the end I've decided against it. Why? Well, the wrong colors are caused by fpse, not by the gpu plugins, and I think in terms of compatibility it was a bad decision by the fpse team. And if I would do a special fix, hey, maybe the fpse team would never correct the colors... and maybe the next emu team would decide to display the mdecs up-side-down, and I would have to add another bunch of useless convert funcs... nonono ;) And one fpse member already told me that they want to fix the mdec issue themselves, so hey, don't worry :)

    FCE Ultra 0.60 Released!
    FCE Ultra is a NES emulator with binaries for Windows, DOS & Linux. It's only the Windows & Linux ports that has been updated.

    News for all ports:
    * Various speed optimizations.
    * Sound is no longer messed up when a JAM/KIL opcode is emulated.
    * Fixed an overflow bug that occured when $4014 was written to during certain(rare) conditions.
    * Fixed a few save state bugs.
    * Fixed a MMC1 CHR bank switching bug.
    * Added emulation of the MMC5's WRAM write-enable/disable registers.
    * Fixed a sound frame IRQ emulation bug. "Qix" works now.
    * Added UNIF support. Some of the board emulation is still a bit buggy, though. Look at the documentation for a list of supported boards.
    * Updated the "Palette Notes" section of the documentation. Also fixed a few other problems with the documentation.
    * Added support for loading files in the PKZIP and gzip compressed file formats via zlib.
    * Added the ability to configure the first scanline and the last scanline to draw to the screen. Enabling PAL emulation no longer will cause all 239 scanlines to be displayed, though an option to override these settings for when PAL emulation is enabled may be in the next version.

    Extra news for Windows port:
    * Fixed a bug that would cause the emulated D-pad of virtual gamepads emulated through the keyboard to be duplicated through "higher" virtual gamepads(gamepad 1 would affect 2,3,4; gamepad 2 would affect 3,4; etc.).

    Kawaks 1.08 Released!
    Kawaks is a CPS-1 & CPS-2 emulator for Windows.

    News:
    * Added option to display only romsets that are available in the load game dialog box.
    * Fixed Alien vs. Predator (Euro 940520) driver (sound bugs)
    * Fixed CPS1 sprite issues (Punisher bus wheels, Andor disappearing when he jumps, etc)
    * Fixed YM2152 (CPS1 music) tempo, but that causes new bugs: some sound codes mysteriously vanish now. That means sometimes, no music will play, or some sfx won't be played.
    * Much improved Z80/68000 synchronisation, which allows the following :
    * Fixed QSound tempo. Faster music, music synced to intro in VSav, etc etc
    * Overclocked CPS2 games to 12.8MHz (instead of theorical 11.8MHz) This fixes many glitches. It's likely the 11.8MHz errors are due to timing errors in the 68000 core I use...
    * Now lagging not only palette but entire VRAM. Fixes some layer/palette errors.
    * Various CPS1 fixes:
    - Mercs 'dirt on the sprites' should be fixed.
    - Carrier Air Wing won't freeze anymore (game still buggy however, weird palette issues)
    - The King of Dragons's in game backgrounds show. Fully playable now.
    - 1941 won't freeze anymore when game starts.
    * Added a setting in the INI to control sound emulation frequency (44100 default)
    * New option in the INI to control the sound playback. If sound is bad on your system try playing with the SoundSegs and SoundSegLag settings. (6 and 5 are the default). For example, some older versions of Kawaks used 4 and 2. You may want to use them. (Note that SoundSegLag should be superior to 0 and inferior to SoundSegs)
    * Now compiled with Turbo68K Version 0.5 (The Cpu Core Formerly Known As Genital68K)
    * Redid the Kawaks splash screen code. Should display things correctly for vertical games and it looks better in fullscreen.
    * New Alternate scanlines blitter. If you have a slower PC and are using scanlines, I recommend using those, since they should be quite faster.
    * New image enhancement blitters : 2xSai, Super2xSai, Eagle. They are quite slow for now because those versions are pure C, without MMX optimisations. If you have a S3 or S4 card, I'd like to know if those blitters work for you...
    * Changed the way the video blitters are handled (many internal changes to allow the future blitters). Now a unique Engine setting in the INI :
    0 = Normal (default)
    1 = Scanlines
    2 = Scanlines 50%
    3 = Alternate scanlines
    4 = 2xSai
    5 = Super2xSai
    6 = SuperEagle
    Modified the menu to reflect the changes.
    In terms of speed, from fastest to slowest, the blitters are 0 3 1 2 6 4 5
    * Added an extra set of resolutions in the INI to differenciate fullscreen resolution for normal blitter which needs a lower res from enhanced blitters (which need a twice bigger resolution) :
    * HorizontalFullScreenWidth Resolution for horizontal games with
    + HorizontalFullScreenHeight non Normal blitter (scanlines, 2xSai, etc)

    * VerticalFullScreenWidth Resolution for vertical games with
    + VerticalFullScreenHeight non Normal blitter (scanlines, 2xSai, etc)

    * HorizontalFullScreenWidthNormal Resolution for horizontal games with
    + HorizontalFullScreenHeightNormal Normal blitter

    * VerticalFullScreenWidthNormal Resolution for vertical games with
    + VerticalFullScreenHeightNormal Normal blitter

The latest version is up and ready for download, V0.0005 now supports loading and saving to VMS which is a great help when playing games like The Hobbit or Pyjamarama! The RGB and VGA problems have been fixed, and if someone wants to test the NTSC version I'd be greatful. BTW. for those that wondered about V0.0004 - this was a minor fix just after V0.0003 came out, so chances are your already playing that one!"
