Every System has its own share of Mario, Street Fighter,
and Tetris clones. The only difference ever being a few extra tweaks
which differs them from the rest. Game Designers tend to stick to things
they know that work, instead of coming up with new and original ideas,
this way they think they cannot fail. Human Entertainment ( The people
behind The Firemen ) have left these boundaries and have taken the basic
RPG and Action elements and combined them into a unique, original game
called "The Firemen"
The Firemen was first released in the US in 1994, the graphics in this
game are some of the best seen on the snes and the gameplay is in the
top ranks as well. Armed with your trusty hose and grenades filled with
water you must attempt to put out a raging fire in a factory, and all
on Christmas day. The fire seems a little hectic at the start but as
the game progresses the fire becomes more violent and difficult to destroy.
The game probably seems very boring and easy just combating fire, but
is far from that, reaching levels that even hardest gamer could be putoff
by.
You must also avoid and destroy many of the factory's control robots
which have gone haywire, and on top of this you must attempt to save
the lives of the survivors trapped within the fire.
This game proves that you do not have to stick to tried and tested
ideas to make a game fun and playable, although a 2 player option wouldn't
have been a miss. This game should be in your collection and theres
no reason why not !!
