Balloon Fight - NES

I totally forgot about this game, until I saw it on a *cough* ROM site. I distinctly remembered it to be a cool game, so I immediately got it and lo-and-behold, I was not wrong. This game is a fantastic homeage to the classic Bubble Bobble in a way, but it also has its own distinct feel. You are a small chap who is suspended on 2 balloons, which you use to guide yourself around the screen in order to pop the balloon that is keeping the enemy afloat. When you have done this, they fall to earth on a parachute which when touched by you, send them to their death earning you bonus points. If you dont quite make it to their parachute, you can wait until they have landed and touch them, but this earns you less points.

One more cool thing to this game, is the inclusion of a sort of sub game called Balloon Trip, that has you trying to guide yourself through electrified objects in order to collect balloons. The further you get on this trip, the higher the rank you get. I haven't quite made it to the end yet, so I dont know what happens when you get there.

I strongly urge you give this game a try - it is so adictive you will probably hate me for it, because you will not be able to put it down, and therefore lose out on precious beer time :)
