Jungle KingJungle King, or Jungle Hunt as its also know, came out in 1982 by Taito, you play Tarzan and unsurprisingly, your trying to save Jane from the natives who have captured her, and are readily preparing her for their dinner, by suspending her above a rather large pot. I used to have this for my Atari 2600 console, which was an excellent conversion (I urge you to try it with Stella) but its the original that retains the quality gameplay and graphics as you battle to save your lady friend. The first stange see's you swinging from vine to vine, miss one, and you plummit to your gory death in the pit of 1000 scorpions, thats what i like to think anyway, in reality, you just kind of fall of the screen. Stage 2 Brings you swimming across a crocodile infested lake, with your trusty knife as protection, but make sure you down drown, you have to keep going up for more and more air. The third stage is a right pain in the arse, as you dodge boulders, which all bounce at differing heights, before at last, you have to jump the cannibals, and save your girlfriend from the pot. Strange thing that I have noticed, is that your hair changes colour from stage to stage, no explanation why, just thought Id point that out. Anyway, its still a superb game today, it was the natural progression from Pitfall, and I would love to see an Update. Nostalgia Rating 5/5 Playability 5/5 Overall 5/5 Marrez
