Of Course, everyone knows Dig Dug, and you can read that review over at
zings place (Now closed), but not everyone knows that there was a follow up, called, well, of course, its Dig-Dug 2.
Brought out 3 years after the original in 1985, Namco add a few neat touches, which
some say spoils, but I reckon, it enhances the gameplay, one thing it does do, it
makes it bloody difficult.
The main differences between the two, are of course, that you are not underground, so
no digging is required, I suppose it should really be called DigDug 2: No Dig Required,
but that would have confused everyone, as I have probably just confused you. Anyway,
the other main difference, is that the screen now scrolls as well, without any digging
required, the ghosts and dragons move fairly quick, and you have to be on top of your
game to get a respectable score.
I still prefer Dig Dug, for its nostalgia but for playability, graphics and of course
the superb Dig-dug tune, you cant beat, dig dug 2.
Nostalgia Rating 5/5 Playability 3/5 Overall 4/5
