When I was younger, I had enough money to buy a game for my trusty Megadrive (or Genesis to you yanks) and when I got in the shop, I hadnt a clue
what to buy. So, when browsing through the titles, I came across this little number which appeared from nowhere. The graphics alone made me buy it,
which I know is a dumb thing to do, but I was young so sue me.
For those of you without any form of activity in the art of deduction, this is a Pool game.
As with the majority of pool games, it has a couple of
pool varieties to choose from in 2 player mode, such as Straight Pool or a real mans game, 9 Ball. In single player mode
you can choose between Tournament, where you have to qualify through the rounds by getting a high score, or theres Trick Shot Mode where you uncover part of
a puzzle by getting each trick shot correct. The puzzle is a sliding game, where you can only move one square at a time in either 90 degree angles. The picture is
that of a pool sluts head, and when all shots have been completed, the computer slides the pieces together to complete the picture. The woman then winks at you if
I remember correctly. Anyhoo, back to the gameplay. This is far from realistic, as the balls travel way to slow, and when you break off, the balls hardly go anywhere.
Still, it is a fun game to play if you have no other Pool game and theres no pub near you for a real game, if only to see the ZONE mode which starts
when you are doing shit and are on the last ball. On this ZONE, the table is practically frictionless and the balls move for a bloody long time, so you are bound to knock it in
eventually. Try it, it wont hurt you.
